Masking Tape Shoes

Image
Nike Masking tape Shoes 11" x  3.5" x  4" The picture above shows the way I constructed my masking tape shoes. By measuring individual sections of the original shoes and than making flat cut outs out of the masking tape. The proccess of this was pretty straight forward, but putting it together appeared to be more difficult than i thought.

Balsa Wood

Shaped textures of the Mind 3"x 3"x 3.5" The hanging and dripping square in the middle is placed to purposely drag  the attention of the viewer and bringing their focus to one particular point. This diamond inspired piece, is made with the idea of a globe style figure. Where the small cube, that hangs on the inside of a more significant hub. It gives off more of a cocoon vibe with it being attached on a  much more visible thread.  1.5"x 6"x 2" This skeleton sculpture is built on the principle of repetition. The basic shapes that  built up the skeleton are the same style, but just in different sizes, and these run along a  wavey vertical xis that hold it all together. The simplicity of the figure design is what  ties this piece together. The variation in sizes helps this figure more organically flowing. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Highs And Lows 32" x  24" x  4" Artist Statement This project was influenced by the good and bad times that we all as humans go through within our lifetimes here on earth. But for me, it was a little bit more than that. With this project, I took the deep points and made them darker, as a symbol of dark times and times we don't want to look back to. The highest point is the brightest and symbolizes the aspects that grab our attention and that we want to look back to. This piece may seem like it goes within one another, but it is un purposely done that it will not fit in one another. Because not all good can be compared with a bad or compensated with a bad.  The picture here above shows the foam boards that i ussed to make the indents and different tears.  Materials - Foam issolation board - Acrylic paint -Steel wires

Momento

Stepping Stones 2.5"x 3"x 1.25" Artist statement Memento is a piece that is centered around a particular memory of the time I had to move to the United States for school and leave everything back home. For me, this was the stepping stone to the future that I was going to build while over here. To succeed from where we come from, you need to leave the island and go for something big, if not you're going to be stuck there. So for me, this was a big move and a positive move. Therefore, these three pieces of wood here represent the steps that I had to take to come here, and the big piece in the middle symbolizes that barrier of leaving the island. Is going from taking small steps to making significant steps, without guidance. The nails that were used in this piece represent the core of who I am and the part that holds everything together. Without this "nail" these steps would not be possible.  Materials - MD

Masked Identity

Masked Identity The introverted box, 2017   With this mask, my intention was to show the true self of me, the part that not a  lot of people see or the part that not a lot of people know about. But apart from it,  it resembles the kind of people that have these same characteristics. Being a shy  and introverted person is often a struggle for people like me, and it can take away a  lot from our lives. It basically shields us from the rest of the world; it gave the world  the perspective that we are flat-faced, not open and closed from everything.  We tend to seclude ourself from the world, and not show our weaknesses. But behind  the mask lies a more profound and more beautiful person. The style and concept behind the mask are taken from the idea of being secluded  from the world and not revealing who we are. It's like having a giant box over your  head and covering up your true identity. But by covering our face, it doesn't mean  that we don
